Summerfest Kickoff: Carnival Ride Squeals, Music & Crunchy Pickles

Saturday and Sunday feature traditional events as well as some new ones not to miss.

The annual Summerfest in Sayville kicked off Friday, August 2 with a big crowd at Gillette Park as kids scrambled to get on ride lines, parents grabbing carnival eats from grilled corn to corn dogs and visitors strolling from one vendor tent to another. The summer night was perfect weather for enjoying the live music that took the stage through the night. Here's a gallery of shots of the evening.

The three-day event sponsored by the Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce continues Saturday and Sunday.

Admission is free, and convenient free offsite parking with shuttle rides to and from the fair will be available Saturday and Sunday from 9 am-10 pm, with the new trolly shuttle taking passengers to and from the Islip Grange (corner Montauk Hwy CR85/Broadway Ave. in Sayville) to the fair perimeter by the Sayville FD. Indoor baby comfort stations available for feeding/changing, free wheelchairs available.
