Readers' Choice: What's the Best Deli in Town?

Who's got the best salads, cold cuts and overall deli service between West Sayville and Blue Point?

For local residents who remember, there used to be a deli on nearly every corner between Sayville and Bayport. Remember Jack's Deli (now the Fish Store) or Mac's Deli (next to Cav's) and of course Ed's Deli, which is still a deli thank gosh.

Long Island delis are the best in the country and our communities have been home to the best of them. But which one slings the sandwiches you crave again and again?

A list of sandwiches named for local characters and attractions, gallon-sized cups of iced tea and every type of side salad you can imagine. Sound familiar? It’s the calling card of Long Island’s world-class delis. But the reality is, each have their own specialties that keep people coming back.

This week, we want to find out which deli you rely on most.

Readers’ Choice is a new weekly feature where we ask you – our readers – to tell us your top picks on the businesses and local attractions that get your loyalty.

Each Monday we’ll list our nominees recommendations. Did we leave your go-to spot off the list? Go ahead and add it in comments.

On Friday we’ll tabulate all of the poll votes, comments, recent directory reviews and emails and crown a Reader’s Choice. Please only vote once in the poll, because any attempt to game the results could end up in your favorite businesses being disqualified.

Here are our nominees:

Furci's

The Sayville Sandwhich

Tom's Deli

Bayport Delicatessen (Middle Road)

Neighborhood Deli (the old Ed's deli on Montauk Hwy near Snedecor)

Bayport Deli & Convenience (corner of McConnell)

3 Generations Deli (former Village Pannini in Carvel shopping center, Sayville)

I don't think Furci belongs on the list. Without a doubt, it has the best food, but it is a specialty store. As far as regular Deli's go, my family finds Parkville Plaza hands down the best for food and service consistently!

I chose Neighborhood Deli. Not only is the food great the staff is always friendly and great service. And you can't beat there prices.

How can we vote for a deli against another when all 10 (excluding Furci's) do the same EXACT thing?

As Furci offers cold cuts and sand whiches and salads.. I figure it was only fair to include them though they aren't the typical 'LI deli.'

I look at the overall experience I have had at each deli when I made my vote. Yes each deli does the same thing but you get different experiences at each. I have gone to some of the deli's on this list and the customer service is poor at times or the food doesn't taste as good as expected. Alot on times I have experienced stale bread or soggy egg sandwiches. I chose Neighborhood Deli based on the overall experience I have had there not just on the food cause all deli server the same

I think its amazing that the sayville Sandwich after being open only a little over a year is in the running with delis that have been open for over 20 years.there is no other deli as organized, clean, has great food and is reasonably priced as the sayville sandwich. Not to mention their service is outstanding. They are so friendly and fast.
