Please Pass the Cheese

Although people might be missing Erin Nicosia and her infamous cheese at Sayville's Farmers market, the wait to taste her delicious products is over. Nicosia's store, American Cheese, located at 106 Main Street in West Sayville, is now open.

After great success at the Farmers Market last year, Nicosia decided that she would fulfill her dream and open her own shop. While living in California and working on her graduate degree, Nicosia fell in love with a local cheese shop and aspired to open her own one day. That day is here.

"I have been in the restaurant and bar industry for over 15 years," she said. "This is so exciting to me to be able to do this in my hometown. I grew up here and you never think you are going to end up back in your hometown, but I couldn't be more thrilled."

The store will feature handmade, artisanal cheeses from all over the country and all of the foods that go with it, like fresh baked breads, preserves, charcuterie and more. "I want people to get a different visual when they think of "American Cheese," said Nicosia.

Nicosia also plans on hosting food tasting events and encourages customers to sample before they buy and explore things they have never tried before.
