On the Gift Hunt: A Blue Point Resident's Handcarved Birds

A Folk art shore bird is just one of many unique local gifts around town.

Yes, we realize that October isn't even over yet but holiday gift hunting is starting soon and Patch wants to help readers find the best presents right in town, sold or crafted by local residents.

So we're kicking off 'On the Gift Hunt' which will spotlight unique local gift ideas right around the corner.

This week it's a Folk art shore bird carved by Blue Point resident and local artist Michael Yannelli whose talents have been written about in numerous magazines. His work has been profiled in a magazine spread on kitchen design. Yannelli is also known for repair work on old vintage decoys.

The hand carved bird is being sold at Country Junque on Middle Road in Bayport.
