Last Minute Mom Gift Ideas & A Few Chances to do Good

Flowers are great, but one-on-one time doing something to help sick children is better.

Ok, there are 72 hours give or take until your Mom expects her gift, or your wife expects her gifts from the kids or Grandma expects gifts from everyone.

Luckily, local merchants have some great options and Patch offers up a list of ideas. Several are courtesy of the Sayville Chamber of Commerce’s newsletter so thank you Barbara Whitehead at Seafarer (which is a terrific place to find gifts for the mom who loves beautiful jewelry and anything nautical).

Moms Who Love Planting

Get over to True Value Hardware, which is now open late, and get Mom whatever tools, flowers or spring planting items she needs to get flowers in the ground this weekend. Yes, maybe you’d save a few cents hitting some big box store, but shopping local is also  a special gift to give the community you live in.

A Furniture Bonus

If Mom’s been talking about sprucing up the inside with some new furniture, stop in at Marc Williams on Main Street in Sayville between now and Monday and if you buy  a sofa you will receive a $100  Sayville Chamber gift certificate.  Another great way to give Mom what she wants and do the right thing by shopping local.

What Mom Doesn’t Love Jewelry

Sayville just lost a great jewelry store when Silica closed, so support the local jewelers in town. Seafarer now boasts a huge selection of beautiful handmade sea glass jewelry in sterling silver.

Surprise Picnics are a Great Gift

Take Mom on a picnic this weekend and find the perfect basket for the special day at Sayville General Store which is now featureing a slew of styles in Appalachian White Ash.

Give the Gift of Time

If you’re Mom’s not big on gifts and just wants more time with her loved ones, what better way to spend the day than doing something good for someone else. Saturday, May 12 is the 10th annual Kristen’s Walk to the Water which raises money for leukemia reesarch and grants wishes to sick chidren. The walk starts at 9:30 at the Common Ground and registration starts at 8:30 a.m.
