It’s All About Color in Back to School Fashions

Get a jump on being a fashionista this Fall with insight from a Sayville clothing store.

Not only is it time for teens and parents to take advantage of great summer clearance prices and sales, it’s also prime time to starting thinking about new trends for the schoolyard and classrooms.

In both cases, it’s all about bright colors and fun designs in accessories. In Sayville it’s all in clear view at Ooh La La, on Main Street.

Right now high-waisted shorts, which are 25 percent to 70 percent off, are still a good choice given Indian summer days through September. As cooler weather come the store management expects colored denim to remain a big seller, as well as sheer blouses in vibrant colors such as orange and prints.

“I think high-low dresses and skirts will remain popular this school year for both high school and college girls,” said Alana Kroman, who’s been the store manager for over four years.

“Right now it’s all about colors, from reds to orange and other bright neon colors. Pant prints and stripes are also big,” she told Patch.

This week marks the unofficial start of back to school shopping, noted Kroman.

“Colleges are going back first so they’re coming in to get some new clothing for the year and then it’s more high school and junior high shoppers later in the month.”

In jewelry, tribal and Aztec designs are a big seller, and this fall Kroman expects geometric designs to be very popular as well. Spikes and studs on bracelets are also still going strong.
