Unique Window Displays, Diner Not Closed, and Grand Opening Sales

News, gossip and sightings from West Sayville to Blue Point.

While there was a report late last week that the Seacrest Diner in Sayville was closed, it was open as Monday morning.

The former nail salon, in the 7-11 center in Bayport, is having a grand opening under the new name of Nails by Sunny B.  Patch hopes to get the scoop on who Sunny B. is this week.

In celebration of Earth Day, had one of the most unique and interesting window displays in downtown Sayville last week: mannequins wearing women’s wear made of paper and other recyclable elements. The store also has a very neat blog that local fashionistas might want to check out, as there are plenty of photos of what’s in style this spring.

, on Sunrise Highway in Sayville is running a May special:  a shellac manicure and short and sweet pedicure for $47. The salon is now open on Sundays from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. and the special on Sunday is a full set of acrylic nails, with Luann, for $50. It’s also promoting a new approach to hair extensions.

Kingston’s in West Sayville officially opened for the season this past Friday, celebrating 34 years. There is a new dockside happy hour event weekdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with $5 appetizers and $5 drink specials. Patch will need to find a story angle to cover that very soon.

At its most recent meeting members discussed ways to keep Main Street alive past the dinner hour during the week, contemplating holding Live at Five events, just like downtown Patchogue. There was also talk of art walks and wine and cheese events for Friday night shoppers.

Don’t miss the chamber’s Spring Festival happening next weekend and kicking off April 28.

Also don’t miss the chance to help out the hungry. , in the Stop and Shop shopping center, is still matching food donations. If you bring in a bag of food during April they’ll add another bag and donate it to a food pantry.

The new TD Bank at the corner of Foster Avenue will officially open on May 19. Do you know what TD stands for?  Toronto Dominion. Don’t worry, Patch didn’t guess correctly either.

On Tuesday nights, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., kids eat free at the at the corner of Main and Rail Road Avenue. Irish night is Wednesday with live music from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and happy hour is daily from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and boasts a $2 off all drafts special.

Did you know that Jeanine’s Cool Cupcakes on South Main Street offers free local delivery?

Berry Fresh, in the 7-11 shopping center in Bayport, is celebrating its Grand Opening and has free WiFi for frozen yogurt lovers. There are 20 different flavors in rotation and 40 different toppings.

If you’ve become a Phountain fan in Sayville, and find yourself in Babylon, you can get the same services as the health club and water store has opened a new location on West Main Street in Babylon and Real Ryder spin classes are now forming in that location.

And just so you know, the newly opened Fish and Wings Village Market in West Sayville isn’t just fish and wings and fresh seafood. There is an extensive dessert menu as well, including fried Twinkies and a ‘create your own sundae’ option. You can even create your own smoothie.

It’s flip flop season finally and if you’re tired of them just piling up in your closet, there’s a neat Skinny Closet Hanger that holds seven pairs and it’s just $14.99 at the shop on North Main street in Sayville.
