UPDATED: Business Update: Drive-Thru Bank on Horizon for Sayville Dairy Barn Site

Future customers coming to the former convenience property won't likely be looking to buy milk.

An application to establish a bank drive-through operation at the former Dairy Barn site on Montauk Highway in Sayville has been filed with the Town of Islip Planning Board, according to town officials.

According to Islip town public iinformation, the First National Bank of Long Island submitted the planning board request. According to the bank's website, the closest branch to Sayville currently is in Bohemia on Orville Drive.

A new chain link fence was recently put up around the building, which has been vacant for some time. Town officials told Patch a site plan must be approved by the town's engineering division prior to the issuance of a building permit

The update to this story was regarding the owner of the application.

Enough with the banks already! IDK how Dairy Barn couldn't make it there it's a godsend when you have small kids in the car with you.

Great news. It is getting so hard to find a bank around here!

I loved being able to hit one of these for quick milk and bread trips.

I'm glad to see something being done, but really? Another bank? Just throw a CVS next door too, not enough of those around....

I'd rather see a dive bar, a restaurant, offices, a strip club, a new Bunk House--almost ANYTHING but another bank or drug store! #%#$!

I miss Dairy Barn too. Other Dairy Barn locations were renamed (not sure of the name) and still sell dairy products. Different brand name of milk but they are open. I miss Dairy Barn chocolate milk.... Re-open the barn, please. No more banks, CVS or restaurants please.

If all these banks needed bail out money about 3 years ago how are they all able to afford to buy all this real estate and over build?
