Bayport native Christopher Atkinson is a Certified Public Accountant with a tax and accounting practice located in the Bayport Professional Center on Montauk Highway, just west of Nicolls Road. While it's his busy season given tax filing he was kind enough to provide feedback about his business for the debut of Patch's Small Business Profile feature.
Atkinson is also one of Patch's newest Local Voice bloggers so check out his tax tips for small businesses to make sure you aren't paying Uncle Sam more than you have to.
When were you founded?
How did your business come to be?
I have been a Certified Public Accountant since 1996. I started my own practice because I like providing individual attention to each client.
Why did you choose the community you're in?
I have lived in Bayport-Blue Point my entire life.
What do you want your business to be best known for?
My practice focuses on cutting taxes, and on decreasing costs/increasing profits. I take great pride in providing quality accounting services to my clients and enjoy the work that I do. My regular clients particularly value the personal approach that I take in getting to know their business and their unique needs. It is most important to me that my clients get a quality product that meets their needs and their budget. I base my fee on a product, not the time that it takes. I am certified as a QuickBooks ProAdvisor, a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and a Notary.
What's your most popular product or service?
At this time of year it would have to be business and personal tax returns. Year round services include payroll and sales tax compliance, QuickBooks Training and Advisory services, Bookkeeping services, Tax Planning, Certified Financial Statements, and NYS/IRS Advocacy.
