Blackbirds Grille Offers Price Fixe Menu to Support Stony Brook Children's Hospital

Restaurant to donate $5 from each purchase to "Dine Out for Kids."

in Sayville is one of just the more than 30 select area restaurants that are helping to provide world class pediatric care for the kids on Long Island by participating in the “Dine Out for Kids” price fixe program. Running now through Sunday, Jan. 16, restaurant goers can enjoy a three-course price fixe dinner for $29.95 and $5 from each purchase will be donated to Stony Brook Long Island Children's Hospital.

“One or more of our customers approached us about participating in the event and as soon as we heard it was for kids, it was a no-brainer,” said Wayne Black, co-owner of Blackbirds Grille. “We want to be involved in any cause that is helping out children and this is just a terrific cause.” Blackbirds has been involved in a considerable amount of fundraising efforts during its five years in business, including a number of cancer-related fundraisers.

“We are very glad to be a part of this event,” Black added. “Whatever we can do to help out the community is a benefit to us all.” The restaurant will be offering a menu very similar to its usual price fixe options featuring some of its signature dishes. For starters, there will be chicken and shrimp wontons or a winter salad. Some of the dinner options include filet mignon, coq au vin and sesame-encrusted salmon. Dessert options will vary.

“We hope it does well, as our normal price fixe menu usually draws quite a crowd,” Black said. “We are expecting a good amount of diners to come out and support the cause. We are advertising with signage around the restaurant, with fliers around town and on the homepage of our website, www.blackbirdsgrille.com. We are hoping to write a nice check to Stony Brook’s Children’s Hospital at end of the event.”

Established in June 2010, Stony Brook Long Island Children's Hospital is Suffolk County’s only children’s hospital. More than 7,000 children and adolescents are admitted each year. Stony Brook Children’s operates 100 pediatric beds with a faculty of more than 100 pediatric providers in 30 different specialties and more than 200 voluntary pediatric faculty members.
