B-BP Chamber Senior Resident Dinner a Major Success

Well over 300 guests attended the seventh annual Senior Resident Dinner at the Bayport-Blue Point High School this year.

Because the event has grown, the event was moved to the HS gymnasium giving the guests plenty of room to enjoy the four school musical groups that performed and to look at the many accomplishments of our fine athletes!

After running it as a school board member for six years, and strictly on donations, Kathy Heinlein, now, vice president of the Bayport-Blue Point Chamber of Commerce, changed the event to partner with the chamber and the School to Business program.

The theme of the dinner has always been to thank the senior most residents of the community for their support with the school community, and now with the chamber sponsoring the event, for their support in shopping local!

The dinner was once again run with no cost to the school district. Heinlein, with the help of Laura Rodacki and Michelle Gillette, solicited chamber members for sponsorship to offset the costs. The chamber was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for this incredible community event.

Each of the B-BP PTAs (Blue Point Elementary, Academy Street, Sylvan, JWY Middle School and the high school) donated both a raffle basket and a cake to the dinner. The PTA council also donated a cake. The proceeds from the raffle baskets went to the chamber.

The sponsors included:
