A Look at Upcoming Sayville Chamber Events & Community Programs

The business organization has a busy September and there are also several other community events taking place.

The Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce is one of the most active business group on the south shore and September's calendar of events clearly illustrates how active it is as a community and commerce organization.

The next meeting will be held Tuesday, Sept. 11 and is free to new and current members. It will be held at the Arbors restaurant located at 1065 Smithtown Avenue, Bohemia and the restaurant is sponsoring the dinner meeting at no cost to members.

The board segment will be held at 6:15 p.m. with the general meeting starting at 7 p.m. For more information please contact the chamber by email at sayvillechamber@aol.com or calling 567-5257.

Attendees are encourage to bring business cards as 20 minutes will be devoted to networking. The guest speaker is Tom Peterson of Splash Media.

The chamber has also announced that it has printed up the school district calendar as a gift to residents. It features wonderful historic Sayville postcard images each month and provides all the building events and closures for each of the school buildings and school contact information.

Here's a look at various chamber and other community organization events coming up this month:

Sept 15th:  "Weed Identification & Organic Control Methods"* Gardening in the Park free working lecture. Tools provided. 9am-noon Gillette Ave at www.thecommonground.com

Sept 15th:  Coastal Cleanup in Islip Township*  Volunteer to clean beaches/waterways and collect data for this annual event. Don't wait for someone else to do it - be part of the solution!  Other dates available, all supplies provided. More info:keepislipclean@optonline.net or 631-224-2627.

Sept 22nd:  Buddy Run 5K* Supports 911Veterans Inc., serving LI Military Veterans in need. 9am start at St Anns Episcopal Church, Middle Rd, Sayville. Opening ceremony prior to awards & raffles by the Marine Corps Color Guard.  Application: http://911veterans.com/images/2012/BuddyRun5k-4.pdf

Sept. 28th: An Evening in Margaritaville with kick-off at 7 p.m.

Sept 29th:  Full Moon Labyrinth Walk & Reiki* 8pm Common Ground, Gillette Ave. Reiki practitioners guide energy circles/promote healing, free.

And coming in October:

Sayville Fall Festival: October 20, with a rain date of October 27. This annual event features entertainment, rides, vendors, a pie contest, sidewalk sales and a Zombie Flash Mob.
