March 20: B-BP BOE Meeting, Community Clean Up Day Scheduled

Here's what you need to know:

The Bayport-Blue Point Board of Education will hold a workshop meeting at 7 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Among the topics on the agenda: the board is expected to authorize a referendum to be placed on the May ballot allowing residents to decide if the number of school board members should be reduced from seven to five. Sayville kindergarten registration is going on all week at the Sayville campus of Suffolk Community College (formerly Old Junior High); entrance is on Greeley Avenue. All children born between Dec. 2, 2006 and Dec. 1, 2007 are eligible for kindergarten enrollment in September 2012. If you are a Sayville resident, make sure your child’s name is listed in the Sayville School District database by calling 631-244-6505.

Mark your calendars: The annual Bayport-Blue Point Community Clean Up Day will be held on Sunday, April 22. The event is sponsored by the B-BP High School Ecology Club with support from the South Shore Community Organization. The clean-up with run from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. and participants should gather in the high school north entrance parking lot to pick up supplies. For more info, call 631-277-1365 or email sscomh@aol.com.
