Emergency Call on Fire Island Aviation Issue Reveals No Incident

No downed planes or emergency incident, according to SCPD.

A possible emergency plane landing or aviation incident over Fire Island early Thursday morning did not involve any lost or disabled planes, according to the federal Federal Aviation Administration or required assistance from the Suffolk County Police Department, according to Suffolk police public information.

A media report just around midnight Wednesday indicated a possible flare sighting or a possible plane downed on Long Island waters, but the FAA told Suffolk Police that all planes were accounted for in the early hours of May 2.

Suffolk Police sent out two marine boats, the Marine Kilo and Mrine X-Ray, in response to the calls about an aerial incident but nothing was found, according to SCPD's public information office.
