Astoria Federal Savings Bank is taking part in its 14th Annual Kids Tools for School collection drive throughout the month of August.

The program helps provide students whose families struggle to afford supplies with what they will need for the upcoming school year.

The program runs through August 31 at all of Astoria Federal Savings Bank's locations, including the Oakdale branch, where anyone can drop off school supplies or cash donations to help in this year's drive.

Astoria Federal will also match up to $10,000 in cash donations to purchase additional supplies, including backpacks.

“We recognize that children who go to school without the necessary school supplies are at a tremendous disadvantage, both academically and socially,” said Astoria Federal Savings Executive Vice President Brian Edwards. “It’s a great feeling to help a child start the year with fresh new supplies and a bright outlook.”
