Twin Shores Chorus Rocks Library Crowd

Concert offers a cappella harmony mixed with something for everyone.

The Twin Shores Chorus brought their a cappella harmony to the recently. The all-male barbershop style chorus showed off their talents with tunes ranging from patriotic to jazz to do-wop to love songs and some golden oldies.

The group starts every performance with the same song: The National Anthem, what iscalled the most oft-sung tune in the U.S. They also encouraged the audience to sing along. Next up with “Hi, Neighbor,” followed by “My Coney Island Babe” and “Under The Boardwalk.”

After two favorites, “I Wanna Girl” and “Hello My Baby,” four members of the group stepped up to demonstrate the different parts they play: melody, baritone, tenor and bass. After showing off their individual skills, they sang “Shine on Me” in harmony.

David Lance served as director of the chorus. Next on the set list were a few love songs. They included: “Everything Old is New Again,” “Let Me Call You Sweetheart,” “Heart of My Heart,” “Crazy,” and “Breaking Up is Hard to do.”

The chorus encouraged audience interaction with “My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean,” even getting the audience to play a little word game with the song. Fitting for the season was “Let It Snow,” a little do-wop with “In the Still of the Night,” and an Irish Wedding Blessing that dates back to the 1800s and was put to music in the 1950s. Their grand finale was “God Bless America.”
