Reader Photo, Thursday, Oct. 27:
Blue Point resident Melanie Crane shot this photo of a rainbow that appeared from the ocean, over Davis Park, Fire Island, to the bay on Sept. 24. About the photo she said, "I've seen rainbows on Fire Island before but this one was breathtaking. Mother Nature sure does have a way."
It sure does Melanie, thanks for submitting this beautiful photo!
We want to see your photos of Bayport, Blue Point and beyond.
Photographs offer us a way to see something from another point of view.
Each day we'll choose one photo out of your submissions to feature on Bayport-Blue Point Patch.
Send us your snapshots of the community, whether your pictures showcase a local beach or your backyard on a snowy day.
You don't have to be a professional photographer to capture a great moment, and the seemingly limitless number of applications available for smartphones has made it easier for the average person to take a poignant picture.
Leisure shutter bugs can use free apps like Instagram and paid ones like Hipstamatic to give their phone camera photos a vintage feel. The apps use old school lens and film emulators to make photos look like they came from another era.
We'll accept your pictures- enhanced for a vintage effect, or unchanged- and e-mail you a response to confirm photo credit.
emily@Patch.com, include "Reader Photo" in the subject line. Please include the photographer's name, hamlet (Bayport or Blue Point) and a brief description of the photo.
Looking forward to seeing your photos.
