Reader Photo: Great South Bay Sunset

Bayport resident Arlene Louro shot this photo of the beautiful Great South Bay on the Fourth of July.

You don't have to be a professional photographer to capture a great moment, and the seemingly limitless number of applications available for smartphones has made it easier for the average person to take a poignant picture.

Leisure shutter bugs can use free apps like Instagram and paid ones like Hipstamatic to give their phone camera photos a vintage feel. The apps use old school lens and film emulators to make photos look like they came from another era. 

We'll accept your pictures- enhanced for a vintage effect, or unchanged- and e-mail you a response to confirm photo credit.
