Holiday Card Garland

Instructions and information for a do-it-yourself design that everyone can handle.

It's that time of year when you get tons of holiday cards in your mailbox. What do you do with them all? Surely, you can set them on a table or tape them to a wall but why not be more creative. My card garland is so easy to put together and it looks adorable when its done. There aren't that many supplies and what you do need you probably have around the house anyway.

Materials: clothespins, string or ribbon, scissors and push pins

First, take your clothespins and spice them up a bit with some holiday decoration. You can use paint, markers, decorative tape or tie a bow around them with ribbon. Do whatever you want to do. This project is totally customizable.  You can even leave them as is.

You can find clothespins at on Foster Avenue. You can also try on Main Street.

Then figure out what you will use for the line. I had white hemp cord so I chose that but you can use ribbon or thin rope too. Even shoelaces will work. Take two pushpins, any color, and tie the line on both ends.

For ribbon or string stop by on N. Main Street or on W. Main Street.

Once you know where you want to place the card garland, just push the pins in the wall and attach all the cards. I suggest you keep the line pretty tight so they don't hang too low. You can make the line as long as you want or even do a couple on one wall.

You can really get creative with it too.  I plan to showcase all my cards this way around the holidays and special occasions. It adds a touch of whimsy to any room and goes with any type of decor.  Now all that mail has a place of its own.

*You can also showcase your kids artwork this way*

Happy New Year!
