SHS presents "Crazy for You"

Where can one go to hear and see young, spirited performers performing over 20 Gershwin songs along with dazzling dance numbers in the context of a hilarious boy-meets-girl love story set in the American west?  At the Sayville High School auditorium the evenings of March 23, 24, 25 and 26 as the SHS drama and music departments present the “modern” Gershwin musical Crazy for You!  Originally running for 1622 performances at the Shubert theatre on Broadway, Crazy for You is a 1992 re-working of the earlier Gershwin musical Girl Crazy in which a New York banker falls in love with the only single woman in Deadrock, Nevada, and, in order to win her heart, has to disguise himself as a famous Broadway producer who has come to Deadrock to “put on a show!”  With a revised story line by Ken Ludwig, the musical still features such classic George and Ira Gershwin songs as “I Got Rhythm”, “Naughty Baby”, “They Can't Take That Away from Me”, “But Not for Me”, “Embraceable You”, and “Someone to Watch Over Me”.  These and other Gershwin song and dance numbers will be presented by over 40 high school thespians with one set of actors performing the major roles on Wednesday and Friday and a different set on Thursday and Saturday.

Crazy for You will be presented the evenings of March 23 through 26 with the Wednesday and Thursday night performances beginning at 7:00 and Friday and Saturday night’s at 8:00 in the Sayville High School auditorium.  Reserved seat tickets may be purchased at the high school between the hours of 10:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M. beginning Monday March 7.  For additional information, please call 244-6600 or go to <sayville.k12.ny.us/webpages/splayers> and click on “Spring Musical”.
