Don't Miss: Bayport Artist's Talents on Display

Local photographer's work adorns Sayville Library walls this month.

Take a fun lunch break, or end your day with a visit to the Sayville Library this month to enjoy a wonderful photography exhibit featuring Bayport resident Robert Macaluso's talents.

His photography celebrates the diverse beauty of the south shore, and focuses on the shoreline and waterfront areas of Bayport and Sayville.

Every year the school districts on Long Island receive increases of millions of dollars to their budgets, and still they want to bleed the taxpayer for more. As two income families struggle to pay exorbitant tax bills, we’re asked to pay even more? We’ll here’s a novel idea, how about if the teachers union’s began demanding less? This early retirement baloney must stop, salaries should be capped, administrators and their staffs must be cut by at least eighty percent. In addition, educators and staff should have to pay for their own medical and retirement plans just as the rest of us must. Here on Long Island, families are suffering and sacrificing, and many are being forced to leave due to taxes which are out of control. It is time for educators to cease hiding behind children with threats of decreased student programs, and to make an honest and realistic observation as to why things are as bad as they are. To blame parents for not paying enough into the system to support the schools is ludicrous. The real problem lies in a system which is self serving, and run by incompetents blind to the harm they are inflicting upon our children and families.
