Bayport Composer's Work is Highlight of Armed Forces Salute

A rendition of  “Straighten Up and Fly Right” arranged by Bayport resident and composer Reynard Burns is a highlight in an upcoming salute to the Armed Forces event sponsored by the Islip Arts Council.

A Philharmonic Salute will take place on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 8 p.m..  The event will turn Heckscher State Park in East Islip into a giant concert hall, featuring the Long Island Philharmonic and capped by a spectacular fireworks display by Grucci.

The concert is free to the public, and a portion of the funds raised will be distributed to military families in need of assistance through the United Way of Long Island.

David Wiley will conduct the evening program.
