Arts Spotlight: Local Painter Taps Local Beauty for Inspiration

James Dungate's work is all about the beauty of nature and most of the beauty found along Suffolk's south shore.

The retired art teacher is a Long Island native who has made painting his second career and whose work has been chosen for big shows in Manhattan.

He graduated with a BFA from NYIT and obtained a Masters in Fine Arts from Adelphi University.  His artistic inspiration comes from landscapes from Manhattan to Montauk.

His work, oil on stretched canvas and usually framed in recycled mahogany, can be viewed on his website as well as in person on the second floor of the Fiedler Gallery in Greenport.
