Where to Shop Saturday: Local Stores, Local Stores, Local Stores

There is no better way to thank all the business owners in town than supporting them on Small Business Saturday.

The aftermath of super storm Sandy illustrated many things, one of which is how the local business community not only rebounded, but rebounded and helped others in time of need.

One of the biggest donation and relief efforts was the brainchild of a Sayville storeowner with tremendous support from the Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce members.

The same is true of West Sayville, Bayport and Blue Point as emergency organizations, residents and local groups rallied to get needed supplies to residents and helped displaced residents find warm homes and a way back to normalcy.

So what better way to thank all the storeowners and local residents who work locally than to support them on Small Business Saturday?

Last year, over one hundred million people came together to Shop Small in
their communities on Small Business Saturday.

Check out this link to see all the local stores in your community. So stop in, say hello and you might also very likely find a unique gift for the holiday season, whether it's a gift certificate or a gift trinket.

And so the taxpayer is once again asked to give more to an already out of control and bloatedRead More system. Every year the school districts on Long Island receive increases of millions of dollars to their budgets, and still they want to bleed the taxpayer for more. As two income families struggle to pay exorbitant tax bills, we’re asked to pay even more? We’ll here’s a novel idea, how about if the teachers union’s began demanding less? This early retirement baloney must stop, salaries should be capped, administrators and their staffs must be cut by at least eighty percent. In addition, educators and staff should have to pay for their own medical and retirement plans just as the rest of us must. Here on Long Island, families are suffering and sacrificing, and many are being forced to leave due to taxes which are out of control. It is time for educators to cease hiding behind children with threats of decreased student programs, and to make an honest and realistic observation as to why things are as bad as they are. To blame parents for not paying enough into the system to support the schools is ludicrous. The real problem lies in a system which is self serving, and run by incompetents blind to the harm they are inflicting upon our children and families.

It's a drive-through bank.

I heard it was a bank some time ago, but I can't imagine which bank would run a construction projectRead More so poorly.
