High school hoops, bowling and judo highlight today's events.

Good morning Sayville. It’s Tuesday, Dec. 6. On this date in history, the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution was ratified officially putting an end to slavery.

Closer to home, there’s lots happening today in Sayville. 

In high school sports, the boys basketball team hits the road before hitting court. The Golden Flashes will tip off at 6 p.m. against Northport. The boys bowling team looks to shatter the pins against Bellport at at 3:30 p.m.

Those looking to kick the habit in time for the holidays can Learn to be Tobacco Free this evening at the at 6 p.m. Suffolk County’s Learn to be Tobacco Free Program is among the most successful in the state. In addition, medically eligible participants may receive nicotine replacement products and prescription medications that have been proven to help break the addiction.

will host instruction in Kodokan Judo beginning at 7 p.m. Students ages 13-75 are welcome. No experience is necessary and the class is taught by instructions with 100 years worth of combined experience. Fee is $20 per month.
