Weekend Happenings: Walk, Run or Bike to Benefit Bayport-Blue Point

It's Halloween weekend in Bayport-Blue Point. Take a look at the various events scheduled to take place in the area. Friday, there's sports, YA movie night and happy hours. Saturday there's the chamber's Halloween Duathlon and a party at Grey Horse Tavern, among other events. Sunday, the Bayport-Blue Point Community Lions Club is hosting their fifth annual Paws for a Cause, which kicks off at Blue Point Fire Department. Read below to find out more.

• This weekend in Phantoms varsity sports: Friday- girls soccer vs. Babylon at Bayport-Blue Point High School, 4 p.m. Saturday- girls volleyball at tournament, 100 Central Rd., Smithtown, 9 a.m.; football vs. Center Moriches, home, 1:30 p.m.

• It's Young Adult movie night at the Bayport-Blue Point Public Library. Catch Percy Jackson and the Olympians, rated PG, at 6 p.m. No registration necessary, library provides popcorn and drinks.

• The Garage Bar and Grill's happy hour starts at 3 p.m. and ends at 7 p.m. Then stick around for their Halloween costume party featuring live music and prizes for best costumes, 9 p.m.

• Blue Restaurant's Friday happy hour features half-priced drinks beginning at 4 p.m., with a DJ starting up at 5 p.m. On Saturday at Blue, a "Top 40" DJ sets up at 9:30 p.m. for Ladies Night.

• Enjoy the music of the Frank Anthony Jazz Ensemble at Bliss2 in Blue Point. The ensemble performs from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. every Friday.

• Visit the open houses in the area.

• The Bayport-Blue Point Chamber of Commerce is holding their second annual South Shore Halloween Duathlon to benefit the chamber outreach fund, 8 a.m., Corey Beach Park.

• Fitness Support Gathering at Fitness by the Bay on Saturday from noon to 1 p.m. Those who attend this gathering will have the opportunity to have their weight and body fat checked, in addition to a workout, among other activities for $10.

• Saturday at 10 p.m., enjoy the sounds of the progressive funk band Hydroyum Sexytet at Grey Horse Tavern's Hydroween Wig Party.

• It's the grand opening month of Element Saturdays at Nevele. Head to Nevele (formerly Dublin Down) at 10 p.m. Saturday for what's sure to be Long Island's hottest new Saturday dance party. Nevele has been redone with new sound, lighting, decor, and an all new staff. 

• Start our Halloween Day off with a charitable event. The Bayport-Blue Point Community Lions Club is hosting Paws for a Cause, the 5th Annual Benefit Walk.

• Watch the New York Jets take on the Green Bay Packers on Fox at Halloween Day football at The Garage, starting at 1 p.m.  Call to reserve your table ASAP.
