W. Suffolk in Winter Weather Advisory Until Sun.

National Weather Service forecasting 2 to 4 inches of snowfall for Western Suffolk County on Saturday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for all parts of Western Suffolk County from 8 a.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday in anticipation of the approaching storm.

The advisory states that Long Island will start to see snowfall as the morning breaks on Saturday, mixing in some areas with sleet or rain during the afternoon hours., and creating a final snowfall total of 2 to 4 inches in the western areas of Suffolk County.

Additional hazards will be created by temperatures near or at freezing, which could cause black ice on slick roadways and visibility to drop to one-quarter to one-half of a mile.

The advisory states higher localized snowfall amounts could be found, especially further from the south shore of Long Island.

A Winter Weather Advisory is issued by the National Weather Service when periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties and snowfall totals are expected to be six inches or less.
