Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 433 in Sayville hosted its annual holiday party for hospitalized veterans this past Saturday.

Over 50 veterans from the Northport VA Hospital, the State Veterans Home in Stony Brook and the United Veterans Home in Yaphank arrived at the Post on Lakeland Avenue where they were greeted by Post 433 members, and volunteers from community, including students from the Sayville High School and Middle School History Clubs, and the Sayville Country Dancers.

The veterans were served a complete holiday dinner while they enjoyed listening to Christmas music, watching and dancing with the Sayville Country Dancers and sharing some of their military and life experiences with many of the students from the history club as well as their fellow veterans.

The veterans represented a cross section of America's veterans and included men and women who served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine and Coast Guard from World War II to the present.  The highlight of the day was, of course, the arrival of Santa Claus (Post 433 Past Commander Joe White) who presented each guest with a special present recognizing their status as an American Veteran.

It was a great day and what better way to kick off the holiday season then honoring those brave men and women who fought to secure our freedom to celebrate this special time of year!
