Valedictorian Earns Rank of Eagle Scout

Brandon O'Brien was recognized in a court of honor ceremony Saturday.

Bayport-Blue Point was recognized for earning the rank of Eagle Scout in a court of honor ceremony Saturday at Bayport United Methodist Church.

Brandon O’Brien is a member of Boy Scout Troop 130, and he served the troop as Patrol Leader and Senior Patrol Leader. Presently, Brandon is the Troop Guide, and he has earned numerous Merit Badges and rank advancements. For his Eagle project, Brandon built a canine exercise enclosure for the Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter.

Brandon will attend Cornell University this fall, and he will major in Natural Resources. Brandon has achieved academic excellence, and his involvement in the high school Ecology Club, the National Honor Society and the Science Olympiad team will prepare Brandon for his bright future.

Suffolk County Legislature Presiding Officer William J. Lindsay congratulated Brandon at the ceremony.

“I am proud to congratulate and honor Brandon for his strength and greatest achievement in Boy Scouts,” said Presiding Officer Lindsay. “I look forward to hearing more wonderful things about Brandon and his hard work at Cornell. I wish you the very best and I am confident that you will continue to make us all proud.”
