This slideshow will showcase many of the treasures that were found in the abandoned steamer trunks of the crumbling Gold Coast mansions, namely fabled gowns worn by some of Long Island’s most celebrated ladies. Learn about Alva Vanderbilt’s $20,000 jewel studded Marie Antoinette gown, the legendary Arabian nights galas staged by Louis C. Tiffany, and the most expensive party ever given in America.
