Sunday Supper at the Grey Horse Tavern

The restaurant introduces their take on the traditional by offering a family-style Sunday Supper.

The folks over at Bayport’s welcome you to join them this and every Sunday as they host Sunday Supper; an evening of family style-family friendly dishes prepared with tradition and sharing in mind.

Each meal, which runs at $18.69 (based on the year in which GHT’s historic building was established), includes a salad, entrée and dessert.  The food, which changes weekly, is reminiscent of what one would imagine a classic Sunday supper to consist of.

This week Executive Chef Meredith Machemer will be dishing out a salad composed of mesculin greens, shaved gouda and crispy shallots topped with a sherry vinaigrette.  The entrée course will consist of carved roast beef, herb potatoes and haricot verts green beans. Dessert will be as simple as a good old fashioned ice cream sundae.

Sunday Suppers of the past have included a caesar salad, spaghetti and meatballs and homemade zeppolis and a north fork salad, beef and vegetable stew and vanilla gelato.

GHT offers diners an eclectic menu composed of locally sourced ingredients, sustainable meats and seafood and organic products.  They are currently in the process of revamping their menu as well as their schedule of events, including this take-on-traditional Sunday Supper, which will run every Sunday evening.

Chef Machemer encourages diners to come as a couple or a group and enjoy some home-style cooking, as their event poster cleverly reads, “Just like Mama used to make!”

Stay tuned as I keep you posted on GHT’s new menu and events calendar.
