Sporadic Electric Outages Between West Sayville and Bayport

Increasing winds are impacting lines and causing outages.

Hurricane Sandy is about 12 hours away from hitting Long Island and power outages are now being reported through West Sayville, Sayville, Blue Point and Bayport.

According to this LIPA outage map, there are five outages in West Sayville, and just under 100 in Sayville and about five in Bayport and two in Blue Point.

I was a postal carrier in Bayport until 1980. My route was along middle road and south to the water. Edgewater, seaman, browns river rd, I would like to know how its doing during the storm

Hi Val.. there were huge water surges taking place at 10 am this morning at browns river.. i snapped a few shots.. here's the link.. http://sayville.patch.com/articles/hurricane-sandy-is-already-causing-some-trouble#photo-11937311 i have no idea how it is now.. too dangerous around 5pm to go down there and see but browns river was close to be completely flooded at both ends.... i'm guessing it's bad.. i also snapped a shot of a courageous postman doing his job late in the day..

I hope you didn’t get that information from the LIPA website. I was on there Tuesday morning and it reported 5,900 outages in Sayville but 0 for West Sayville. Tell that to the people who live on my block (I live in West Sayville). Luckily I had some power left on my phone to search their page. Power just returned 8:30am Wednesday.
