Soccer for Sandy Benefit Aims to Help Storm Victims

Two Bayport travel teams are raising funds to help out communities needing help.

Two Bayport BU16 Travel soccer teams are turning game competition this weekend into a fundraising event for the American Red Cross to help those still dealing from the wrath of Sandy.

Players from the Bayport Rovers and Raging Storm will contribute $10 to play each other Sunday at 10:30 a.m. on Field 1 or 2 at the Cherry Avenue fields in West Sayville, and asking people to come out and watch a great competitive match and enjoy a bake sale, a 50/50 raffle and a raffle for a show at Creative Ministries.

The idea was the brainchild of Rovers coaches Doug Morrell, Meador Pratt and  Ed O'Donnell and Frank Mazzie, James Jankowski and Joe Pizzurro for the Raging Storm.
