1. The flute and harp performance at the library on Sunday isn't the only musical event on Bayport-Blue Point's calendar this weekend. Take a look at the list of local events we've compiled in our Weekend Guide and you'll be one step closer to ringing in the new month this weekend.

2. Tickets for The Bayport Heritage Association's 25th Autumn House Tour go on sale Oct. 1. Buy your tickets for this (almost) annual event, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 16th, at the following locations: Country Junque, Bayport Flower House and Bayport-Blue Point Library.

3. Are you an inspiring yogi, or just want to start a new fitness regime? Residents can try a Beginning Yoga class at the library on Saturday at 10 a.m. for $10. Yoga provides the same benefits as any well-designed exercise program by increasing general health and stamina, reducing stress, and improving those conditions brought about by a sedentary lifestyle.

4. Want to volunteer or contribute in some way, but don't have the time, why not donate blood? parish outreach, in conjunction with LI Blood Services, is holding their 38th community blood drive on Monday, Oct. 3. Make an appointment for Monday now so you can donate between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the church. Appointments will be honored on schedule; “walk-ins” welcome on a “stand-by” basis. For more information or to make an appointment to donate blood, please call Parish Outreach at (631) 363-2417.
