Sushi Making, Story Time & ZBA Meeting Sums Up Tuesday in Sayville-Bayport

Library programs, town zoning meeting and a foodie seminar.

Life is hectic, and Patch wants to make it easier and simpler. So each day we'll be providing a short list of what's going on between Blue Point and West Sayville.

Here's what is happening today, Tuesday, July 23:

The Bayport-Blue Point Library is hosting a foodie's dream seminar: summer sushi with Chef Richard. The program runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Chef Richard Kanowsky will show you how easy it is to make sushi rolls. Perfect for the summer months! Fee: $5 payable by check only. Call the library though as registration was held earlier this month to find out if there is room to attend: 363-6133.

The B-BP Library's monthly display for July was organized by Vivian Gatta and features sculptures from the Brookhaven Arts and Humanities in the LeCluse case. Exhibits in the hall cases arranged by Jill Polla and Kevin Yates show a brief history of the Civil War in 1863 featuring Battles of Vicksburg and Gettysburg--150 years ago. Bullying and how it affects everyone in some way is the YA theme at the Blue Point Avenue bulletin board.

The Sayville Library is running story time for three-year-olds (on every Tuesday through August 6) beginning at 10:15 AM until 11 a.m. End There are stories, a movie, and fun with educational toys. Call ahead to make sure there is room as registration was held earlier this month: 589-4440.

The Islip Town Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a meeting at 6:30 p.m. at town hall in Islip.
