Sal's Pizza Fundraiser Raises Money & Awareness for Local Organization

Over a $1,000 and 500 items is being donated to group that helps domestic violence victims.

Sayville's own Sal's Pizza fundraiser Saturday for the Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk (VIBS) was a huge success, raising $1,200 in cash and gift cards and raising awareness of the organization and all it does to help women and families dealing with domestic and sexual violence. There was also nearly 500 items donated by local residents to the organization.

The effort also helped spread awareness about all the great support programs and services that VIBS provides.

This event was in honor of Lillian Morrison, who is the grandmother of Sal's Pizzeria owner Lori Giambanco. Giambanco was a domestic violence survivor who had the strength to endure her hardships in a time when outlets like VIBS did not exist. She became a pillar of strength for Lori's family and an inspiration for others in her situation.

And so the taxpayer is once again asked to give more to an already out of control and bloatedRead More system. Every year the school districts on Long Island receive increases of millions of dollars to their budgets, and still they want to bleed the taxpayer for more. As two income families struggle to pay exorbitant tax bills, we’re asked to pay even more? We’ll here’s a novel idea, how about if the teachers union’s began demanding less? This early retirement baloney must stop, salaries should be capped, administrators and their staffs must be cut by at least eighty percent. In addition, educators and staff should have to pay for their own medical and retirement plans just as the rest of us must. Here on Long Island, families are suffering and sacrificing, and many are being forced to leave due to taxes which are out of control. It is time for educators to cease hiding behind children with threats of decreased student programs, and to make an honest and realistic observation as to why things are as bad as they are. To blame parents for not paying enough into the system to support the schools is ludicrous. The real problem lies in a system which is self serving, and run by incompetents blind to the harm they are inflicting upon our children and families.
