Residents Enjoy a Night Out on the Great South Bay

Experience the sightseeing voyage through photographs.

As the sun began to set on Tuesday evening, 116 people gathered together for this year's Historic Cruise by the Bayport Heritage Association. The cruise sailed along the coast of Bayport and Blue Point with historic and insightful commentary by Gene Horton and Jim Connell. Following the coast tour, the ferry navigated through the Patchogue River, with local historian Pete Berman narrating and pointing out various landmarks.

The weather was perfect and there was clear visibility. The tour concluded at The Pier restaurant located at Fire Island's Watch Hill. Guests enjoyed a buffet dinner featuring sautéed breast of chicken francaise, herb-crusted salmon, and sliced filet mignon bordelaise. The meal also included salad, rolls, various cakes, and coffee/tea. A cash bar was also available.

Raffle prizes included a $50 gift certificate to Le Soir, a $50 gift certificate to Sayville Inn, four round trip tickets donated by the Sayville Ferry for any of their voyages to Fire Island, and wine from the Loughlin Vineyards. Many agreed that the trip was very enjoyable and a great way to wind down the summer.
