Petition Seeks Justice for Starved Dog Recuperating in Sayville

Queenie is getting better thanks to Grady Animal Hospital in Sayville but some pet lovers think her owners need to be held accountable.

Dog lovers sickened by the discovery of a starved and neglected dog have started an online petition to bring its owners to justice for animal abuse.

Queenie, a 9-year-old Canine Corso, was found last weekend just days from death's door after being neglected for weeks in a Coram apartment. She was taken in by an animal rescue group, Guardians of Rescue, and brought to the Grady Animal Hospital in Sayville for medical attention.

The incident has horrified local animal lovers and residents but thanks to the rescue effort Queenie is slowing recuperating though she is suffering from kidney failure which will shorten her life expectancy.

The petition, at change.org, seeks to "convict Queenie's torturer to the fullest extent of the law," and currently has over 400 signatures of support.

It was initiated by a Las Vegas resident who states the following on the petition:

This man needs the book thrown at him. If charges (serious ones) are not filed in a case this extreme then what does that say for us as a nation? Animal cruelty needs to be taken more seriously and not tolerated. By forcing this man to pay for his crime it will hopefully make a difference in the future.

She's also asking local residents and supporters to email or send a letter to local police and law enforcement:

To:
Sayville, New York Police Department
SPCA Investigators
District Attorney
Presiding Judge(s)
Please see to it that Queenie's torturer is charged to the fullest extent of the law.

People like this can not simply get a slap on the wrist. What he did to this innocent animal is beyond words. A person capable of such enormous acts of cruelty does not deserve to be free. There needs to be a message sent that abusing and neglecting animals will NOT be tolerated.

I ask that you find compassion for this animal and all others like her. They are living creatures who depend on humans and cannot help themselves. We as the human race owe it to them to take care of them and show them the respect that we show other living beings. Please use this case to set the standard for animal abusers. I do not understand why someone can cause horrible physical/emotional/mental pain to an animal and walk freely. Please help set the standard so we can help STOP animal abuse.

Why? Why why why? Why do those in charge let this keep happening? Why are animals not given more justice? Is their life meaningless to you? I hope not.

Please help us give justice to those without a voice.

Sincerely,
[Your name]

The owner should be sitting in a cell out in Riverhead while being denied visitors and food. And his name should be made public so everyone knows not to trust this man around animals, kids, etc.

I signed this petition; I also posted a comment with the demon's name who did this (CBS reported it) but seems THE PATCH is more concerned about sticking up for the demonic pig who did this as they refuse to include his name!! Anyway here is a petition to sign for the judge to give this pig some serious jail time! http://www.change.org/petitions/sayville-new-york-police-department-convict-queenie-s-torturer-to-the-fullest-extent-of-the-law-2
