A parade to honor Bayport-Blue Point varsity players who earned 'state champion' titles this season will be held June 27 at 6 p.m.
The event, sponsored by the Bayport-Blue Point Chamber of Commerce, celebrates the state title won by the boys varsity baseball team and state champion achievements by several members of the boys track and field.
The parade kicks off at the corner of Bayport Avenue and Railroad Avenue and heads west to the soccer field at the high school. The teams will be escorted by the Bayport and the Blue Point Fire Departments. Elected officials are expected to present the athletes with proclamations and awards.
Hotdogs, desserts and soda/water will be provided to all parade viewers. Anyone wishing to volunteer or donate to the effort is asked to contact Kathy Heinlein by emailing her at Kheinlein529@aol.com.
