Our Lady of the Snow, LI Blood Services Host 38th Community Blood Drive

The organizations work in conjunction to run the annual event at the Blue Point church.

Residents between the ages of 16 and 75, weighing at least 110 pounds, may be eligible to donate blood at a  next Monday.

 parish outreach, in conjunction with LI Blood Services, hosts the 38th annual community blood drive on Oct. 3 from 2- 8 p.m. at the church in Blue Point, according to Gene Horton.

The parish member encourages residents to sign up. "The need [for blood] is great," Horton said.

Any person who meets the aforementioned criteria, is in good health, and has not donated blood in the past six weeks may participate.

Those who are 16-years-old and younger must have an official Blood Drive Permission Form signed by a parent.

Adults over the age of 76 must have a note from their physician that they are able to donate blood.        

All donors must provide either a photo ID or a blood donor card.     

Appointments will be honored on schedule; “walk-ins” welcome on a “stand-by” basis.
