November Kicks Off with Quiz Night and Cryptoquote Class

Countless activities are scheduled for this month. Here's a list of local events for Monday, Nov. 1.

As Bayport-Blue Point gears up for election day tomorrow, Patch provides last minute candidate details and voter information later today. This Monday, there is a sports game, a class at the library on Cryptoquote and other local fun and entertainment activities going on.

Take a look at this list of scheduled events for the first day of the month.

  • Today in Phantoms varsity sports: Girls volleyball at Hampton Bays High School, 88 Argone Rd. E, Hampton Bays, 11946 4:30 p.m.
  • Town of Brookhaven's Parks and Recreation Department offers an Arthritis Exercise Program that runs for several weeks at Henrietta Acampora Recreation Center.  For details, call 631-732-2338. 
  • Attend a puzzling class at the Bayport-Blue Point Public Library: Secrets to Solving Cryptoquote. During the program, participants will learn how to solve the puzzle Cryptoquote, published daily in Newsday. The need to relay secret communications dates back thousands of years, giving rise to the inventions of codes and ciphers. This can't-miss class is for beginner through accomplished. Registration by phone, online or at the Reference desk is required.
  • Other local fun and entertainment: Love Mondays at Blue, 5 p.m. Blue knows everyone hates Mondays, but says the restaurant and bar's Love Mondays weekly party will make you love them. Half off all drinks and sushi/lounge menu. Music by DJ Loki, no cover. Exercise your brain with Quiz Night at the Sage Cafe, beginning this evening at 7:30 p.m. This event is hosted by Angela every Monday. Arrive early to get a seat.
