March 1: Art Exhibit, Return of Craigslist Finds and A "Reading" Dog

A list of local happenings in and around Bayport-Blue Point.

Each day, Bayport-Blue Point Patch provides information on events happening in the area. On March 1, the local agenda features educational events.

1. Check out what's on exhibit at the for the month of March. Members of the Acampora Center Marquetry Club are showing their work in the west hall case. Everet Harris who arranged this exhibit hopes it will increase interest in the art and membership in the club. The east hall case holds a display, organized by Jim Mendelson, representing good works of the Blue Point-Bayport Lions Club. Leon Yablonski’s wood carvings of Long Island land birds and water fowl are in the LeCluse case. Watercolors of Long Island South Shore landscapes and water scenes painted by Barbara Colpas are hanging in the hall gallery.

2. Read with Callie, "The Reading Dog," at the library. This new reading dog will take 30-minute appointments with readers in first through fifth grade. Callie received her Pet Partner certification through the Delta Society and is now eligible to serve as a Reading Dog.
