It's Lobsterpalooza at the LIMM

A little rain doesn't dampen the second-annual event for seafood lovers.

The rain came hard and quick and the dark clouds stayed throughout the evening. But that didn’t stop the die-hard seafood lovers from making their way down to the ’s (LIMM) second-annual Lobsterpalooza on June 17.

Luckily, the tent remained intact, despite forceful gusts of winds that sent tablecloths and flowerpots flying. The event had about 100 reservations and 80 percent of those reservations came down to the museum, according to Kathleen Prokesch, director of special events at LIMM. Many attendees made their way to Lobsterpalooza early in the evening due to the weather forecasts and others opted to enjoy their lobsters inside the museum.

“The event is much bigger than last year, almost double the size,” Prokesch said. “Lobsterpalooza has the potential to be a wonderful event.”

Aside from the all you can eat lobsters, there was clams, mussels, peel-and-eat shrimp and corn on the cob to enjoy. There were also burgers ready on the grill for the non-seafood lovers and well as the kids. All of the catering for the affair is done by Lessings.

Unfortunately the weather conditions kept the band, Bayport-based Tribute, from entertaining the crowd. The museum also had to cancel its after-dinner screening of “Top Gun” because they couldn’t risk the equipment getting wet or damaged.
