Islip Shelter Animals of the Week: Doggy Duo

Charlotte and Bernard need a home.

The Town of Islip Animal Shelter is home to many lovable dogs, cats, puppies and kittens that are desperately looking to join the right family.  The shelter takes great pride in providing a clean and caring environment for all of their pets

Meet Charlotte. She is a young Bull Terrier who has not had it easy. The Islip Animal Shelter says when Charlotte first came in, she was terrified of everything and everyone. She would spend her time trembling in the corner of her cage. This pup's previous owners bullied and abused her.

The shelter has tried to treat Charlotte with the love and affection she deserves. She is making great progress thanks to the shelter's staff. Since her stay, Charlotte has been taken out and played with to help bring her out of her shell.

Although the shelter reports that it takes awhile for this girl to warm up to people, once she does she is nothing short of sweet. Once she is comfortable in her environment, you will find her playful and even silly at times.

Charlotte is well worth the effort and the shelter wants to see her in a home with an experienced dog owner. While she seems to get along with other animals, Charlotte cannot be in a home with children. She needs family who will help her work through her issues.

Charlotte is neutered, house-trained and up-to-date on all of her shots and vaccinations.

Meet an actual Saint Bernard. This pup is a St. Bernard and Golden Retriever mix. His beautiful chestnut-colored coat is soft enough to cuddle up to.

If you are looking for a more low-key and relaxed dog, Bernard's your guy. He is always up for a walk and just enjoys being by your side.

Bernard would prefer a home without any young children. He is neutered and up-to-date on all of his routine shots and vaccinations. His Pet ID Tag Number is 500.

All animals at the shelter (210 South Denver Avenue, Bay Shore) are vaccinated, spayed and neutered before leaving. The organization requires a pet adoption fee along with a pet application which can be found on the their website.
