Gulls on Ice: Images of Cold Snap from Blue Point to Sayville

Yes it's could outside. Make that frigid. But gulls seem to revel sitting on mini ice lakes down by town marinas, and ducks are swimming in and around tiny icebergs in creeks and ponds including Hildreth's in Blue Point.

One brave runner was even sprinting down Brown's River Road mid day during the coldest day yet in years.

The canal at Land's End in Sayville is stunningly majestic in such weather as ice just keeps piling up as the bay remains free.

Work was still ongoing at the new bridge being built on Middle Road linking Sayville and Bayport, but the workers must have been huddled in trucks or the trailer on site during lunch hour. It's highly doubtful they're using the outdoor porta potty on days like this.
