Grab & Go Kids Planner: Tennis, Video Games and a Magical Garden

Always on a quest for something to do with your children? Each week Patch will bring you a list of kid-friendly events in Bayport-Blue Point and nearby.

We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try  with children.

Families today are time-pressed, so Patch is happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable driving distance.

The kids are off from school next week and the Grab & Go planner has lots of activities to keep them busy this week and on winter break.

  • Bayport-Blue Point Little League Baseball and Softball Clinics - Feb. 16

These weekly clinics help prepare children for the upcoming season.  There is no charge for the clinic, which is geared towards students in pre-k through eighth grade.

Boys and girls baseball clinic is at : T-ball and Farm League 6 p.m. - 7:15 p.m. and Single A through AAA 7:30 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Girls softball clinic is at : K-1, 6 p.m. -7 p.m.; grades 2-4, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.; grades 5-8, 8 p.m to 9:30 p.m.

  • Buckle Up & Boogie - Feb. 22, 6:30 p.m.

Learn how to choose the right car seat to keep your baby safe.  No charge for this program.

  • Video Gaming Free Play - Feb. 22, 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m.

Spend an evening with friends playing popular video games.  Refreshments will be served.  For teens 6th - 12th grade and no registration is necessary. 

  • Boys Winter Tennis Invitational - Feb. 25, 5 p.m.-10 p.m.

Eastern Athletic Club 9A Montauk Highway, Blue Point 631-363-2882

Join Bayport-Blue Point Community Tennis Association and for JV and Varsity pre-season play.  It will be round robin style match play and tie breakers.  Cost is $20 per player or $40 a team and includes raffles, beverages and trophies.  All proceeds benefit that provides high quality-low cost tennis to the community.  Register online at www.bbpcommunitytennis.org.

  • Charlie St. Cloud PG-13 - Feb. 25, 6 p.m.-8 p.m.

Teens in 6th - 12th grade can enjoy the PG-13 movie "Charlie St. Cloud"  The library supplies popcorn and drinks.  No registration necessary.

  • Make a Flower Fairy and Her Magical Garden - Feb. 26, 3 p.m.

An afternoon of flower fun.  Children must pre-register for this class.  $10 per child and there is a family discount to register two or more children for $7.50 per child.

  • Library Museum Passes

Reserve a library museum family pass for free admission to The American Museum of Natural History, Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum both in Manhattan; Children’s Museum, Garden City; Whaling Museum, Cold Spring Harbor; Vanderbilt Museum and Planetarium, Centerport; and the Long Island Museum, Stony Brook.  Stop by the Reference desk for more information.

  • Winter Break at Camp Edey - Feb. 22-25, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Plan ahead for winter break with a day camp for girls K to grade six.  Activities include arts and crafts, games, sports, sing-alongs and more.  Your girl does not have to be a Girl Scout to attend. Cost for the week is $155 for Girl Scouts and $167 for non-Girl Scouts.

  • Bouncing Fun - Open Play

Feb. 21 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m.

Feb. 22 from 1 p.m.-3 p.m.

Instead of having the kids bouncing off the walls at your house bring them to Pump It Up and have them bounce there.  Two full hours of play for $12.95 per child and look for coupons on their Facebook page. Call to make reservations.

  • Maritime and Winter Programs

This program is for children first through fifth grade and costs $15 per child, per class.  All children must wear art and weather appropriate clothing.  Classes are from 10 a.m. - noon.
