Funeral Services Set For Blue Point Woman Killed in LIE Crash

Funeral mass Saturday morning and life celebration follows at local yacht club.

A mass will be held Saturday, Dec. 22 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Snow Church in Blue Point for Christa Alma Zepf who was the lone fatality of a massive vehicle crash on the LIE Wednesday afternoon.

The Blue Point 68-year-old grandmother was reportedly headed out east for holiday shopping when her car became involved in one of the biggest vehicle pileups ever seen on the expressway about 3:30 p.m.

According to an obituary at Raynor & D'Andrea, Zepf was the beloved wife of Hubert, loving mother of Jennifer (Ken) Schaefer, cherished grandmother of Kyle, loving sister of Hans Dufner, Walter Dufner, Rolf Dufner and Hedwig Froehlich.

A private cremation will follow the mass service.

In lieu of flowers donations to Hope House Ministries, PO Box 358, Port Jefferson, NY 11777 or Our Lady of the Snow Church, Youth of Ghana, 175 Blue Point Ave., Blue Point, NY 11715 would be appreciated.

Immediately after the funeral mass, everyone is invited to the Sayville Yacht Club to continue with the celebration of Christa’s life.

Every year the school districts on Long Island receive increases of millions of dollars to their budgets, and still they want to bleed the taxpayer for more. As two income families struggle to pay exorbitant tax bills, we’re asked to pay even more? We’ll here’s a novel idea, how about if the teachers union’s began demanding less? This early retirement baloney must stop, salaries should be capped, administrators and their staffs must be cut by at least eighty percent. In addition, educators and staff should have to pay for their own medical and retirement plans just as the rest of us must. Here on Long Island, families are suffering and sacrificing, and many are being forced to leave due to taxes which are out of control. It is time for educators to cease hiding behind children with threats of decreased student programs, and to make an honest and realistic observation as to why things are as bad as they are. To blame parents for not paying enough into the system to support the schools is ludicrous. The real problem lies in a system which is self serving, and run by incompetents blind to the harm they are inflicting upon our children and families.
