Four Chaplin's Memorial Service Held in Sayville

Memorial Service and reception held at St. Ann's Episcopal Church.

The Four Chaplin's Memorial Service was held recently by the Suffolk County American Legion at Sayville's with a reception followed at the Smith-Wever American Legion Post #651.

The four chaplains gave up their life jackets while assisting Army troops aboard the troop transport Dorchester that had been torpedoed in February 1943. The names of the four chaplains were Lieutenants George Fox, Alexander Goode, Clark V Poling, and John P Washington.
