Easter Egg Hunt for Dogs Set for Friday Night

Portion of proceeds from the event will go to Live.Love.Bark Dog Rescue.

There are lots of Easter egg hunts this time of year, but on Friday night in Bay Shore, the egg hunt will be for dogs only.

Doggie U K9 Academy and Long Island Pet Professionals are hosting a special Easter egg hunt just for the dogs from 7-9 p.m. at the academy located at 41 Saxon Avenue. The dog who finds the most treat filled eggs in a two-minute time period, wins a Easter basket filled with doggie toys, treats and pet products.

Aside from all the fur flying, eh em, egg flying fun that Fluffy and Buster will be having while doing their best ‘nose-work’ to find the most eggs, the event will benefit Live.Love.Bark Dog Rescue group.

Live.Love.Bark is the non-profit rescue group that works directly with the Islip Animal Shelter and Adopt-A-Pet Center, and Doggie U is thrilled to be able to donate a portion of the proceeds to the event.

Each dog that hops into the Easter egg hunt ring will have their pet parent pay $10 to go to participate in the egg hunting. They will be given two minutes to sniff out the most doggie treat filled eggs.  The owner will go into the ring with their leashed dog and each egg the dog finds, the owner will put into an Easter basket.

“We love this idea of having fun, celebrating spring and teaching the dogs that come to our first Easter Egg Hunt and a little nose-work and training at the same time! And we are thrilled to be helping Live.Love.Bark and the Town of Islip Animal Shelter as they are our neighbors down the block,” said Rolissa Nash, co-owner of Doggie U K9 Academy.  “We love giving back to the community and working with our local rescue groups and animal shelters.”

Long Island Pet Professionals will be providing the winner with the Easter basket filled pet products. Guests are asked to bring their leashed dogs to join in on the fun.  Light refreshments for humans and dogs alike will be served. For more information about the event contact Doggie U at 631-968-7972 or by email at DoggieUK9Academy@aol.com.
