Dog Saved From Death Row Needs a Loving Home

Patch reader issues plea to find Jasmine a loving family.

A Sayville-Bayport Patch reader is reaching out to local residents in hopes of finding a home for a dog she’s fostering after saving the pooch from death row at a animal shelter.

Jasmine, a one-and-a-half-year-old Lab/Hound/Pit mix breed has no aggression issues or food issues and is crate trained, Lynn Corso-Donato told Patch through a Facebook conversation.

“Great with kids, dog and cats and needs a loving home,” she said. Corso-Donato rescued Jasmine from Rebound Hounds Rescue in Staten Island. The canine is great with small children as well.

“I saw her scared face on a FB rescue page called Urgent Death Row. She was pulled from Brooklyn Animal Care Control because they didn't want to be bothered with her because she was so scared that she wouldn't walk and they are always full. So Staten Island ACC took her and the volunteers posted a pic of her and I couldn't resist her eyes!,” she wrote to Patch.

“She is like a new baby. Watching her play for the first time, wag her tail for the first time, walk on her own for the first time (took a week to not be scared and walk on her own). Gets really excited for a snack and sits now! She is no trouble at all. She is very attached to her crate so she stays in most of the day and night with the door open. She eats twice a day and goes out three times a day. She comes out a little when my older son and husband aren't around.”
